Clark Hearsey commenced in 2010, the result of a management buyout of the Louth office of a local accountancy firm.

We recognised that as a market town in a rural area Louth had a unique client base and we wanted to be able to tailor our service to suit.

We are proud to be the largest independent qualified accountancy practice in Louth.

There is no legal definition of the term accountant so anybody can call themselves one. Many lenders will not lend without accounts prepared by an accountant with a recognised qualification.  Steve and Vicki are both Chartered Certified Accountants.

As an independent we are free to tailor the services we provide to each client on an individual basis.  Some only want to talk to us once a year for the preparation of their accounts and tax return whilst others like to see us as their Finance Director and run things by us on a regular basis.

Unlike some of the syndicated practices we are happy to do as much or as little as the client wants.  We won’t try to sell you additional services that you don’t need.  In addition, whilst we do offer a Tax Investigation Service policy, to cover our fees should you face an HMRC enquiry, this is optional, not compulsory.

Primarily, we aim to make things as cost-effective as possible.  Up to date details of our charge out rates can be provided at any time or they are available from our website.  We aim to have all work done in the most cost effective manner.  Where work is done by a higher grade member of staff than is strictly necessary they will not be charged at their full rate.

To discuss the services we offer why not make an appointment to come and see us?  We offer a free initial meeting with tea/coffee and biscuits.

Defination of an accountant
Steve Clark

Steve Clark

I have worked in accountancy since the 1970s and qualified in 1986 whilst working for a local firm in Grimsby. After a short spell working in Doncaster I returned to the area in the late 1980s commencing work in Louth in 1987 and becoming a partner in 2007.

In total I have over fifty years' experience working with local businesses.

My main area of responsibility is in overseeing the preparation of business accounts although this does extend into other associated areas such as corporate tax and general business advice.

Outside of work I am heavily involved in a railway preservation project which has seen my involvement in filming work for the likes of Dalziel & Pascoe, Eastenders and Casualty. I somehow managed to miss out on the filming of the movie "Nine" starring Penelope Cruz!

I have been at Clark Hearsey since it started in 2010.

I deal with personal and partnership tax and P11Ds as well as company formations.

I also fulfil an Office Manager role doing a lot of the admin for the business too so I'm likely to write to you in advance of your year end reminding you of the actions you need to take and chase you for your books and records if necessary!

I'm a great animal lover and have a horse, goats, chickens, cats and a dog.

I enjoy reading, crafts and music.

I am a big tea drinker - on the hour every hour is the mantra I live by!  That is as well as when planning a job, before starting the job and then having completed the job!

I work part time and primarily do client payrolls. It will usually be me chasing you for staff hours or check when you want payroll processing when there are bank holidays coming up.

Some clients are happy to do their own payroll but will ask for assistance with RTI and Automatic Enrollment, and general queries throughout the year.

I also send out reminders that where employees where the benefits are not payrolled a P11D will be required to ensure appropriate tax and national insurance are collected on these.

Outside of work I like reading, walking and watching a good film on TV. The walking doesn’t always involve taking our lazy dog as she prefers to do a lot of sleeping.

I work full time and am mainly involved in the preparatrion of business accounts. I also do VAT returns for some of our clients along with book keeping.
I am here to help with any queries clients may have with their cloud based book keeping systmes.

Outside of work I like to spend time with family and friends, and I also enjoy running to keep fit and planning holidays.
